Create a contents inventory in record time without confusion

When it comes to insuring your home furnishings, knowing exactly what possessions you have – big and small – will help you find the right policy. The best way of doing this is to create a list of everything in your home that you couldn't possibly live without, including those beautiful curtains that mum hand sewed for you. It might seem like an extra job that you’re not quite sure where to fit in, but with the right plan of action, it really shouldn't take too long. 

Write a category checklist: from electricals to white goods to carpets and curtains, go through each room and allocate every one of your belongings. This should give you a clear understanding of exactly what you have. 

Store your checklist: there are lots of ways to do this, either with an app or tool like Microsoft Excel, or even a written note on your computer. Find whatever works best for you but make sure it’s saved online somewhere safe, just so you don’t lose it!

Know what your rooms are worth: Once you've done that, divide your valuables up into rooms to find the estimated value for each room in your house. Trust us, you’ll be surprised at how much each room is worth!
