Protect Your Home

We’ve put together some tips on what to do should you have an accident or water incident of your own – as well as lots more to help keep your home in tip-top condition.

Spilt Wine

A sudden deathly silence falls at your party and you hear the awful words "Oh, dear. Does anyone have a cloth?" Yes, a glass of red wine has been knocked over on your lovely new carpet. What can you do?

If only we’d stain-guarded

Stain guards create a durable layer of protection over the carpet fibres. If you’re reading this and don’t have a big red stain on your carpet, there’s still time. Thoroughly clean your carpet, and then spray sparingly and leave until dry. Stains will then lift off much easier.

Salt can be poured onto the stain to stop it from setting while you figure out which step to take next.

White wine for red wine?

White wine can help neutralise the red wine and make it easier to lift the stain off. Pour the white wine over lightly then gently blot the area first with a thin towel or absorbent cloth. DO NOT RUB.

If a small stain remains you can use soda water or salt to continue lifting out the pigment.

Soda Water

The carbonation of soda water helps lift a stain, while the salt content stops the stain from setting.

Vinegar & Soap

Vinegar is good at neutralising purple pigments. Pour it over the stain lightly before gently massaging it with soapy water.
